I use gmail to receive form submission mails. Things were fine in the beginning but as the number of submissions increased, I started facing a problem. The problem was that all the form submission mails are grouped into the same email thread and they show up as a single email conversation.
Earlier I simply ignored it, but when I missed a support request then I thought we need to do something about it. So I started looking for a solution.
So after a bit of searching and experimenting we discovered that Gmail groups messages with the same subject line in a conversation view. So all we needed to do was to ensure that each form submission has a unique subject line and Gmail will treat it as a separate Email thread.
So we recently introduced an option to insert Submission id in the Email Subject line. Refer to the attached screenshot
Since the submission id is always unique, it will ensure that the subject line is always unique which in turn will ensure that every form submission notification will create a new email thread.
So all we had to do was to make sure that each notification mail includes the submission id in the subject, it will ensure that Gmail will treat each notification as a separate email. I am sure a lot of our users will find this feature useful. If you have any questions then simply contact us here
